I’ve been (mostly) keeping this under wraps for the last year and a half, but it’s finally time to announce that my latest collaboration with Esquire, a completely revised edition of “The Handbook Of Men’s Style: A Guide To Looking Good,” featuring a brand new chapter on casual style, is dropping October 22nd and is now available for pre-order.
Esquire has long been my favorite publication to write for, so when they pitched me the idea of revising the Handbook it was an easy “yes.” The original edition had been around for nearly 15 years, and some parts aged better than others, but rather than a relic I saw it as a repository of some deep menswear knowledge that deserved preserving. To that I added my own observations and guidance on how to dress now with a chapter entitled, “The New Casual,” plus updated images of the most stylish men of yesterday and today. The result is a bridge from the #menswear era to our anything goes present, from suiting to “scumbro.”
I’ve always admired Esquire’s ability to navigate, and influence, menswear’s shifting currents without abandoning their august history. I tried to honor that with this book, which I think offers insights and advice for everyone, no matter where they fall on the interest spectrum. So whether you’re just getting into menswear or you’re the most swagged out guy in the subreddit, I think you’ll find something to incorporate into your life and style.
Thanks to everyone at Hearst Books and the entire Esquire team, especially Jonathan Evans, Esquire’s inimitable Style Director, and of course Editor-In-Chief Michael Sebastian, who blessed this edition with a new forward. I hope you enjoy.
I've come across only a handful of good guides and am looking forward to this one
Michael, so major!! Congratulations. Can't wait to flip the pages.
