Sunspel Linen Overshirt
Last week in NYC we got a two-day preview of what’s to come: temps in the 90s and suffocating humidity. I’ve always found it nearly impossible to dress well under those conditions but this year I’ve resolved to try, especially because I now need to be in an office three days a week. In years past that might have meant reaching for a tailored jacket—more on that in an upcoming post—but even then the lightest sport coat still felt stifling. Increasingly I’ve come to believe in the power of the linen overshirt as the right solution, first because of a Uniqlo Cotton Linen Shirt Jacket I grabbed early in the season, and now, because of this refined version from Sunspel, the British brand that red pilled me with their cotton knitwear. Newly converted, their Linen Overshirt is my next move, due to its breathable Italian linen and copious pockets (front flap and side seam). The washed navy color also feels like it strikes the right polished note without coming off looking like a CPO jacket, as I think a darker shade would. I also love that if I really start schvitzing I can roll the sleeves up—can’t do that with a blazer.
Levi’s Vintage Jackpot
Everybody thinks they’re going to find a copy of the Constitution behind a flea market painting or a rare vintage watch at Goodwill, but of course no one ever does. Yet one lucky member of the r/Denim subreddit seems to have stumbled upon a pair of 1937 Levi’s “Big E” 501 jeans in their attic, and are now sitting on a pair of denim potentially worth between $10-$20K (note that all info comes from other members, so, grain of salt etc.). Regardless of the final valuation it’s a pretty insane find. (Thanks to Jeff for the heads-up.)
“Life-Changing Travel Advice”
Not sure this will change your life, but hopefully it will make your summer travels more enjoyable. Esquire recently asked me and 29 other “interesting people” (their words) for their favorite travel advice as part of their newest Big Black Book issue.
I always carry a pack of moist facial towelettes in the exterior pocket of my carry-on. The brand doesn’t matter; I’ve used fancy ones and I’ve used CVS-branded ones. (Makeup-remover wipes will also work in a pinch.) They’re great for a mid-flight refresh or for cleaning up right before landing, especially when you’re desperate for a shower.

The Material Review: Book Review
And since it is now unofficially summer, it’s time to get your reading list in order. The Material Review put together some recommendations, including two of my picks. Check it out.
Parting Shot
It’s Ven Space. Just say Ven Space.

Just got back from SF and thank god for my SO that I got all headass men's clothing stores out of my system for at least the next fiscal quarter.
